Yarn scrap recycling


I have so much yarn scraps, from all the afghans that I am working on. And don't you feel they are too good to be thrown away. This is what I came up with this afternoon. You just need a bottle, yarn scraps and glue. Just stick them on as you wish. I want to make lots of these.


Do you have ideas to use yarn scraps, that you do not mind sharing??

    This seems fun and simple enough for kids to help with as well.

    Pretty, colorful and useful. We used to make these in school when I was a kid.........way way back in dark ages. lol

    What a cool idea! sadly, I just throw the scraps in trash.will keep this in mind the next time I end up with yarn scraps..

    What a great idea! I'm now kicking myself that I just emptied out a glass jar of offcut scraps into the bin about 3 days ago *slaps head* - my kids would have loved doing this!

    I try not to have any leftover yarn but if I do a scrap afghan is started. Thanks for the great links in your previous post.

    Thats a very cool way to use up all your yarn scraps :)

    I must admit I throw tonnes of those short bits out, but it does feel a waste

    What a cool idea! I've got lots of yarn scraps - I also use them to stuff my amigurumi's with, but this is definitely a more colorfull option!

    great idea! my teen has been using my scraps to make yarn art. it's basically any line drawing with yarn glued on it instead of coloring it with crayons. :)

    great idea! One thing I saw which was pretty cool was buying some of those diy clear plastic christmas decorations, and filling them with yarn scraps. Hope that make sense!

    I love this! Do you know how many bottles I have saved? And how much yarn I have that probably can't be used for anything else? I will definitely be giving this project a try this week. Thanks for sharing!

    I do use small bits of yarn to create chains and then use them to make hearts or flowers on cardstock. Best wishes, Tammy

    That's a cool one and even I do that but not with waste yarns. I don't get much scraps. I am too stingy with my yarns and cut them as close as possible.

    thats one neat kid friendly project. I remember doing these one summer vacation when we were kids :)we also made paper mache bowls and bangles , then stuck yarn scraps / coloured coir scraps. I must try and do it again :))

    Thats lovely :) I need lots of such ideas because I want to use even the smallest bit of leftover yarn and unless I have finished most of my earlier stash, I don't feel comfortable in buying more yarn :( yes... I am stringy ;)

    Love your yarny jar! It's beautiful! I'd imagine you could glue in some seed beads there too to add a touch of sparkle if your yarn stash is a bit dull (like mine - all blues, greys and black!) x
